PSAT Parent Letter

August 4, 2022

Dear Parent/Guardian:

The Pre-Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) will be administered on Saturday, October 15, 2022.    The PSAT is an assessment administered by the College Board and is designed to provide students with the opportunity to practice for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).  The SAT is an assessment used for college admissions, and can be used to determine a student’s College or Career Readiness as prescribed by Maryland Senate Bill 740.  The PSAT also provides students and schools with valuable information regarding a student’s readiness for higher level classes, including Advanced Placement course work.

Students will have the opportunity to register for the PSAT using Total Registration Online (TRO). The TRO link to register for the PSAT will be located on each high school’s webpage, HCPS website, and other means of communication as determined by each school, and will open on August 31, 2022.  Students must register to take the PSAT at the school in which they attend.

The cost to take the 2022 PSAT will be $20.00.  Any student who is FARMS-eligible will be exempt from paying the $20.00 fee: simply register through TRO and check the waiver designation information.

Registration for the test will close on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 4:00 PM.  Additionally, testing fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

For additional questions or concerns regarding the PSAT administration, please contact your student’s School Counselor.

Sincerely,

Mary K. Malone
